ADSC’s Napa Meeting will now take place September 28 – October 1, 2020!

Globally known for world-class wine, this scenic stretch of countryside invites you to discover more…

Napa Valley is home to more than 400 wineries and tasting rooms, and some of the world’s most coveted grapevines – but those who visit just for the wine are missing out. Sprinkled in between vineyard-covered hillsides are charming destinations with entertaining and delicious things to fill busy days in wine country.

Napa Valley, at only 35 miles long by five miles wide, is easy to explore and full of the unexpected. The valley is home to five towns, each with its own personality and distinct character, and 16 distinct grape growing regions, or appellations.

ADSC’s Napa Meeting will be held at The Meritage Resort & Spa in the heart of Napa! Join us for a fantastic educational lineup, busy technical committee meetings focused on new and exciting industry developments, Product Presentations, and an unbeatable networking experience!

CALTRANS Post-Grouted Drilled Shafts Research Project
Dr. Erik Loehr will provide a preliminary overview of the findings of recent research into the mechanics of post-grouting for drilled shaft foundations.  The project was supported by the ADSC through funding and through generous in-kind contributions from two West Coast Chapter contractor members. Dr. Loehr will give details on the testing program and will describe the results of his evaluation.  In addition, he will provide insight into CALTRAN’s likely policy responses, as well as probable FHWA interpretations.

Filling the Holes in Telling Our Story
A recent education session at the ADSC Annual meeting collected research needs within the industry but also highlighted areas where the ADSC can help to educate other sectors in the foundations industry.  This summer session will act as a guided discussion in which members can provide suggestions for future methods to deliver better information to engineers, state and federal agencies, architects, inspectors, and other relevant sectors of the design and construction fields.

Owners Roundtable
Our fifth installment of Owners Roundtable is an interactive and engaging forum allowing owners the opportunity to share with each other concerns and ideas that affect us all. Your thoughts and concerns for your business are important for all of our businesses.
– Succession Planning
– As an association, why can’t we stand united on contractual issues?
– Labor Challenges
– Certification of Operators
Facilitated by Rick Kalson, ESQ., Benesch Attorneys at Law, and Bo Walker, Texas Shafts, this session will include open dialog from principals of construction companies whose opinions help assure that everything is considered when important decisions are made within the association.

Women in Construction Roundtable
The inaugural Women in Construction issue of Foundation Drilling magazine produced an enormous reaction from our industry.  We learned there are even more women than we knew knocking it out of the park everyday in the deep foundations business.  We also learned that the women who are deep in the trenches every day (literally and figuratively) still face challenges that their male counterparts might not experience.  Most importantly, we don’t have nearly enough women lending their talents to the design and construction of deep foundations and anchored earth retention.

The ADSC is initiating a new feature for the benefit of our members, the Women in Construction Roundtable.  This function will be similar in format and purpose to our very successful Owners’ Roundtables that are conducted during our Annual and Summer meetings. Women in the business can bring up their issues and challenges as part of a group discussion to solve problems and make progress.

We encourage all female members to take part in the first session. For questions or more information, e-mail
