About the Committee
The Drilled Shaft Committee is comprised of interested engineering professionals (aka, industry competitors) dedicated to providing
primary assistance in the writing of applicable specifications
review, commentary and formal acceptance of design and construction specifications
a network of industry professionals to perform research necessary for the advancement of AER technologies
Mission
The mission of the Drilled Shaft Committee is to promote the utilization and advancement of Drilled Shaft Construction. This will be done by demonstrating the efficiency and value of our product to Owners, Designers, Contractors, and Industry Associates. The Committee will work to ensure that the quality of our product is of the highest standard.
Goals
Promote the use of drilled shaft design and construction by delivering product presentations to Geotechnical and Structural Engineers, Departments of Transportation, Municipalities, Contractors, Professors, and Students
Review, comment, and participate in the preparation of technical papers, specifications, and industry guidelines, as the needs arise
Perform a comparative analysis of competitive foundation systems
Develop a generic database of load test and non-destructive testing information
Promote the utilization of an industry-accepted Drilled Shaft Specification
Work closely with related trade association committees and collaborating agencies (e.g., AASHTO, FHWA, Geo-Institute, DFI) to insure the interests of ADSC-IAFD members are best served
Assist the FHWA in the development of a Drilled Shaft Inspectors Certification Program
Conduct drilled shaft design and construction seminars as the demand supports and requires
Promote the Design/Build application of drilled shaft construction
Monitor the advancement of competing technologies
Outreach to Universities

The Drilled Shaft Committee meetings occur four times a year at the Annual Meeting, Spring Board Meeting, Summer Meeting, and Fall Board Meeting.
